- Catholic vs Protestant will styles: The preamble wording in wills may depict that of the scribe rather than the testator and a there were established forms to follow under each sovereign so they cannot absolutely be taken as proof of religion but where a testator uses the Catholic format during a Protestant reign or vice versa that is a stronger indication of their faith.
